Accurate Tracking Starts With Ownership
Heart rate tracking is most effective when you use your own device. Relying on loaner systems often creates issues like:
• Setup delays
• Hygiene concerns
• Maintenance and reliability problems
By using your personal device, you get a seamless, optimized experience—and take full ownership of your performance. At STORM, we’re always pushing for better. Over the past six months, we tested multiple heart rate sensors across different workouts to evaluate accuracy, reliability, and ease of use.
• Chest straps offer the highest accuracy. If precision is your priority, this is your go-to.
• Clean your strap after every 2–3 uses. While machine-washing is technically safe, we recommend handwashing for better durability.
• Pre-workout prep is a game-changer. Dry the sensor pins, wipe the strap, and clear the connection ports. These small steps boost connectivity.
• Fit it right. Position your chest strap tightly and slightly to the left—don’t adjust it mid-session.
• Let it connect early. Pair your sensor a few minutes before your workout starts to avoid early dropouts.
• No lotions or creams pre-workout. These interfere with accurate readings.
• Women: Position matters. Placing the strap under the bra elastic decreases accuracy. Consider an arm strap if needed.
• Arm straps: Best used on the left arm, inside the bicep.
Biggest Challenge? Sweat. If you sweat heavily, your readings might spike or drop erratically after 20–30 minutes of intense effort. The fix: Towel off regularly before sweat pools between the strap and your skin to maintain consistent performance.
Final Verdict:
• Chest Straps = Gold Standard (when used correctly and maintained)
• Arm Straps = Solid Alternative
• Wrist-Based Wearables = Least Reliable (due to sweat, movement, and poor sensor stability)

If you have your own Myzone sensor linked to your account you do not need to do anything other then walk into the studio.
